Key Responsibilities:

  • Assembly of equipment in shop and field
  • Troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, and routine maintenance of various farm machinery and equipment, including electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  • Installation and retrofitting of complex production equipment; fabricating and welding as required.
  • Use a lathe to grind, file, and turn machine parts to match the appropriate specifications.
  • Align machines and equipment during installation, using hoists, jacks and other tools
  • Perform work in a safe manner by themselves and with others
  • Assist with other duties as required

Requirements:

  • Must be dependable and self-motivated team player with the ability to communicate effectively, negotiate and conflict resolution.
  • Parts and machinery knowledge, preferably row crop equipment
  • Demonstrated aptitude in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and specifications.
  • You are comfortable working at heights, dusty environments, heat/cold, indoors/outdoors, and confined spaces
  • Effective attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
  • Work both as a member of a team and individually with minimal supervision
  • Always maintain proper and safe working conditions
  • Effectively work in a fast-paced environment, able to work well under pressure and shifting priorities
  • Strong computer and technology skills is a must

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install, repair and maintain heating, ventilation systems in storages.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to ensure proper installation and troubleshooting.
  • Test electrical circuits and components and use specific tools and equipment to check for leaks and other malfunctions.
  • Diagnose and solve various HVAC problems, such as refrigerant leaks, compressor failures and thermostat malfunctions.
  • Collaborate with contractors and clients to ensure that projects meet specifications and budgets.
  • Follow all safety procedures and regulations, including wearing protective gear and working in confined spaces.
  • Keep detailed records of work performed, including materials used, time taken and costs incurred.
  • Train apprentices and supervise less experienced technicians.
  • Stay current with advances in technology and industry standards by attending training and continuing education programs.

 

Experience and Education Requirements

You need a combination of education and experience. Typically, you should have a high school diploma or equivalent and some post-secondary education, such as a certificate or diploma in HVAC technology. Additionally, you'll need hands-on experience working with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. You need also a strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and knowledge of safety procedures and work independently.

Job duties:

Within this position you will perform some or all the following duties:

  • Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new or existing installations
  • Pull wire through conduits and through holes in walls and floors for the Mooij installation.
  • Install brackets and hangers to support electrical equipment
  • Install, replace, and repair lighting fixtures and electrical control and distribution equipment, such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels
  • Splice, join and connect wire to fixtures and components to form circuits
  • Test continuity of circuits using test equipment to ensure compatibility and safety of system, following installation, replacement, or repair
  • Troubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems and remove and replace faulty components
  • Connect electrical power to audio and visual communication equipment, signalling devices and heating and cooling systems
  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records.

Job requirements:

- Positive communication skills towards customers, suppliers, and team members

- Education in electrical engineering or electrician

- Knowledge and experience with MS Office and Google Suite programs

- Knowledge and experience within specialty crop equipment is a asset

- Must be able to lift 25 kg

- Must be able to work in shifts in spring(planting) and fall (harvest) season
